How translation works
How does translation work?
Video-call and in-person speech audio is sent to Deepgram for real-time speech-to-text. Each complete utterance is then sent to Google Cloud Translation in the listener's selected language. A downloaded on-device speech model may be used as a backup if cloud transcription fails.
How many languages are supported?
The app interface includes 48 languages. Video calls currently offer 42 active call languages; availability and translated-voice support can vary by device.
Does translation work offline?
No live translation mode currently works offline. Speech recognition, translation, and delivery require internet; a downloaded on-device speech model is only a transcription backup.
Pricing
How does VivaLingua pricing work?
Buy prepaid minute packs when you need them. There is no subscription, and purchased minutes never expire.
What do minute packs cost?
30 minutes for $2.99, 60 minutes for $4.99, or 120 minutes for $8.49. Purchased minutes never expire.
Who uses minutes?
Only the host uses minutes. Guests always join video calls and in-person sessions free.
Can a guest become a host?
Yes. Anyone can host a call or in-person session using minutes from their own account. After joining someone's call or session as a guest, you must wait 10 minutes before hosting that same person. The wait applies to every account; you can ask them to call or invite you instead.
Video calls
Do video calls need internet?
Yes. Video calls require an internet connection.
Should I use Wi-Fi or mobile data?
Wi-Fi is recommended. When Wi-Fi is unavailable, VivaLingua uses your mobile data connection.
What can I change during a video call?
Open in-call settings to control translation captions, view the session voice, and adjust translated and original audio.
In-person conversations
Does in-person translation need an internet connection?
Yes. In-person speech audio is sent to Deepgram for speech-to-text, and finalized text is sent to Google Cloud Translation. A downloaded on-device speech model may serve as a backup, but live translation still requires internet.
How do I speak during an in-person session?
Choose Push-to-Talk to hold the microphone button while speaking and release it when finished, or choose Hands-Free to speak naturally while VivaLingua detects each turn.
Is my in-person conversation private?
In-person speech audio is processed by Deepgram for real-time speech-to-text. Finalized text is sent to Google Cloud Translation and relayed for delivery. VivaLingua does not persist ordinary source transcripts; see the Privacy Policy for how these providers handle your data.
Invite & earn
How do referral rewards work?
Share your referral link. You earn 15 promotional minutes after the referred user completes a translated call of at least 3 minutes with someone other than you. You can earn up to 10 referral rewards per UTC calendar month. Referral minutes expire after 90 days.
Technical
Which earbuds work?
Standard Bluetooth earbuds and the phone speaker work with VivaLingua.
Is my conversation private?
Video-call and in-person speech audio is processed by cloud speech-to-text providers, and finalized text is sent for cloud translation. VivaLingua does not persist ordinary source transcripts and temporarily caches translated results for reliable delivery as described in the Privacy Policy.
